1. All pumps are not equally created. They vary in shape, size and capacities. Only a pump of fairly good capacity can efficiently circulate the water and keep the debris away. So it is advisable to keep an eye out for the different quality available as all manufacturers have a tendency to reduce the costs and component to a minimum in order to sell their product over and above their competitors.

2. To check out the capacity of a pump, divide the pools volume by 4 and then divide the result by 60,000 liters. Note that 60,000/4 = 15,000/60 = 250 is the net minimum number of quantity (in liters) which the pump will be needed to generate in a minute.

3. Compare the flow rates for a given set of pressure. For example, lets say 12 meters. Ask the seller for the quantity for each pump at that point of pressure. Are you still finding the pressure at 250 l/min? Then, opt for a size higher than that or switch over to another pool pump.

4. Pool pumps are available in varying sizes and they require different sets of energy levels. The one which gives 250 l/m will require about 750 to 1000 watt. The one which gives 350 l/m would require about 1200 to 1500 watt.

5. The cheaper pumps generally circulate more water in similar quantity just as the more costlier ones do. But a cheaper pump creates more noise in its functioning. So it is not advisable to opt for the cheaper pool pump after careful consideration.

Pumps are supposed to be installed outside. But sometimes, several pool pumps come with conditions in the warranty period which require the pump to have adequate protection. Therefore, it is really a good idea to install the filter, pump and motors in a basement or in a garden shed or a garage. All equipments will last long if a good quality pump is installed with utmost care.
