Believe it or not your swimming pool liner is one of the most important parts of your pool. Without it you can't use your pool and it would be worthless. And if something goes wrong with your liner like you get a huge rip in it or it becomes old and starts to fall apart then you will need to replace it. And if you have never replaced a pool liner before, let me tell you that it can get every expensive especially for an inground pool. But before all that happens there are a few steps you can take to keep your liner lasting longer.
The very first step in keeping your pool liner in good shape is buy maintain a proper pH balance in your pool. Your pool's pH should be kept between 7.4 and 7.6 at all times. If the pH is too low your water becomes acidic and eats away at the liner. If it's too high it creates a buildup and that start to crack the liner over time.
The other important chemical you can take care of it calcium hardness. It's a chemical that makes the water harder instead of soft. Soft water has a tendency of eating away at anything to feed itself when it lacks the calcium it needs. The first thing that goes is your liner. So it's important to keep that chemical between 175ppm and 225ppm all year long. The great thing about this chemical is you only have to add it once at the beginning of the year.
