The reason why nobody can write a blueprint for your pool is because all pools need individual treatment. The trick is to test its condition regularly, operate the filter and to make adjustments based on your test results.
1. Pool care is simple - Keep to the guidelines of filtration, correct pH and steady sanitizer levels and that is all you need to know. Pool care is simple, don't let anyone tell you different.
2. Filtration - In Summer your pool filter should operate a minimum of 12 hours per day. You can reduce this to 8 - 12 hours per day in Winter. The premise of filtration is simple: less suspended dirt will result in low pool chemical demand.
3. Chlorination - Disposable floaters release just enough chlorine so that you waste less and they are more convenient. Granular chlorine evaporate fast so you lose much of what you've added.
4. Cure all / All in One - Many miracle cures have come and gone but none have stood the test of time. Stick to the basics and your pool will be an asset, not a liability.
5. Balance your pH - Balanced pH means chemical efficiency which makes life tough for algae and reduces the risk of staining caused by metals and minerals.
6.Shock treat - Chemical demand in water fluctuates continuously and no matter what you use, standard chemical treatment can't cope. Therefore, shock treat regularly.
7. Outsmart your pool - By using a clarifier you regularly you remove a lot of suspended matter that interferes with your regular treatment program. Remove the waste and you'll have a sparkling pool that costs less to run.
