When Buying a Pool Filter

A swimming pool is often an excellent investment. They provide free and safe fun for your entire family. They increase fitness and add to a healthy lifestyle. You can host neighborhood barbecues. But people often get excited and impulsive when they're out buying a swimming pool. They forget that pool maintenance can be a huge pain. This is why you should take the time and properly investigate what type of pool filter to purchase. It is much more fun to check out the various types of pools. But like with many things, the boring details will determine your success.

First of, you should be aware that there are three types of filters. Sand filters are quite popular. The work by flowing water through a filter of sand. The sand then catches the debris. Overtime this builds up though and the filter must be cleaned usually every few weeks.

The second type is a cartridge filter. Water is forced through a cartridge, which catches any waste. This is becoming very popular because this is probably the easiest type of filter to maintain. Some of them can last for an entire season. For those who absolutely hate maintenance and cleaning this might be your best option. Most people would fall under this category.

The last option is diatomaceous earth. It works similar to the sand filter but has fossilized diatoms instead. The diatoms however are much finer than a grain of sand though so it keeps the water purer. For those wanting very clean water, diatomaceous earth is probably your best option.
