How to Fix Blue-Green Water

As we talked about in another article (How to Fix Green Water), green water is often caused by algae. But if you've already treated your pool for algae, and it didn't help, there may be another culprit, especially if your water has a blue-green tint.
This coloration is often a result of a high copper content in the water
makeup. It can also be caused by "aggressive" water corroding
old, copper pipes/heating elements.

The best way to fight this is to balance your water with a chelating or
sequestering agent (ask your local swimming pool dealer to point these out to
you). Periodic treatment with these agents should reduce the blue-green
color of your water and return it to normal.
